LAKELAND, Fla. Lakeland firefighters responded to a structure fire Monday morning at a single-story multi-unit apartment building.
It happened on North Florida Avenue near Granada Street in Lakeland.
Firefighters say they received a call at 7:28 a.m. and arrived minutes later to find the building filled with heavy smoke and fire through the roof.

Everyone in the building was able to evacuate safely before emergency services arrived, the fire department says.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire, but several units were significantly damaged, rendering them uninhabitable, according to the fire department.

OVID TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) â Two teenagers escaped serious injury Friday morning when their vehicle hit the back of a semi on northbound I-69 south of Fenn Road.

Early Saturday afternoon, the Lakeland Fire Department responded to a grass/ bush fire 12 km west of Christopher Lake.
Crews arrived on scene of a fire about 10 acres in size and managed to contain the fire within an hour. They then spent several hours mopping up the scene. The fire was about 25 acres in size once it was extinguished.
Friday afternoon, fire crews responded to a grass fire, south east of Paddockwood.
Crews arrived on scene to a 20 acre grass fire in a yard site. Crews worked on values protection and spent several hours working on hot spots.
DAVENPORT Polk County Fire Rescue has received more than $9,000 to purchase supplies and equipment designed to help reduce the rate of cancer among firefighters.
