The multi-day event will take place during the first week of October and includes the free Reykjavik Calling concert presented by Iceland Airwaves and Filter Magazine, as well as two days dedicated to the best of New Nordic cuisine and the Icelandic culinary experience.

Evening’s Empire Evening’s Empire is an alternative rock band fronted by Rock ’n’ Roll San Diego honcho Shannon Woods, aka Shannon Sabin of the reformed Dinettes, alongside guitarist Sam Strohbehn and bassist David Skolnik. Among all the doom these days coming from Iceland (and pretty much everywhere else too), some people had forgotten Iceland Airwaves. Now in its tenth year, Iceland Airwaves is the biggest little festival in the world and has attracted the best international acts since the beginning. The festival is also famed for nurturing and even launching the careers of Iceland’s best acts as well. The first (and only) time I have been to Airwaves so far was this time two years ago. And I actually felt tearful for several days after it finished. Sounds stupid I know, but it’s true – and my hopes are high for this year too.
