Center Theatre Group announced today that the 54th season at the Ahmanson Theatre will begin November 30, 2021, three months later than it was most recently scheduled and 20 months after the theatre closed in March of 2020.
The season opens with director Matthew Warchus acclaimed A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The season includes the previously announced productions of THE LEHMAN TRILOGY, THE PROM, HADESTOWN and Dear Evan Hansen plus COME FROM AWAY (Please Note: Come From Away was originally announced for the season but was postponed in the most recent season update-it will now return to the season with new performance dates).
In addition, the season will include the hit West End musical, EVERYBODY S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE. The Tony Award-winning Best Revival ROGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN S OKLAHOMA! which was previously set to open the season in August of 2020 will now close the season in 2022. The previously announced production of 1776 will be postponed until a future season.

Washington [US], April 7 (ANI): Ace filmmaker Sam Mendes has found the leading lady for his next project Empire of Light in Oscar-winning actor Olivia Colman.
As per Variety, Mendes, after his Oscar-winning drama 1917 , is teaming up with Searchlights Pictures for his next project titled Empire of Light , with Colman set to star in the film.
The upcoming drama is aiming for a fall 2022 release. The project is described as a love story set in and around a beautiful old cinema on the South Coast of England in the 1980s.

Business was booming. Nearly 15 million people had seen Broadway shows during the 2018-19 season. The total box office gross was $1.8 billion. And as the calendar pages flipped to January 2020, every theater had been booked for what was expected to be a prosperous spring, with 21 productions scheduled to open between the first of the year and the late-April Tony Awards cut-off.
By Friday, March 13, that was all moot. The curtain had unceremoniously fallen the afternoon before by order of New York State, as cases of the novel coronavirus ravaged the city and rapidly filled hospitals beyond capacity. There were hundreds of different ways to have seen this eventuality coming audiences began to thin, whole companies and other theater personnel were getting sick but Broadway lives by one motto: The show must go on.
