The four UK organizations worked to overcome the challenges of the past year and highlighted the size and scope of the personal care sector.

The British Beauty Council, the UK Spa Association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology, and the National Hair and Beauty Federation have been granted a newly formed, sector-specific team within government dedicated to supporting the personal care industry in the United Kingdom.
The creation of a dedicated sector team:
raises awareness outside of the industry
allows government to improve its understanding of this dynamic, economically valuable and innovative sector
Government grants are not fit for purpose say beauty industry leaders
Unlike retail shops, salons are unable to transition their full services online, which makes sector-specific support a pressing concern

On Tuesday the Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a further £4.6bn worth of support for businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors, in light of the lockdown announced by Boris Johnson on Monday evening.
However beauty industry groups have hit back at the finance plan, saying the measures don’t go far enough for the hair and beauty sector, who have endured an extending lockdown in 2020 and no sector-specific support.
