You can register online for Covid-19 vaccine from April 16

You can register online for Covid-19 vaccine from April 16 Share Durban - South Africans will be able to electronically register to be vaccinated against the coronavirus from April 16 through the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS), the Department of Health announced on Friday. In a media briefing on the country’s vaccination roll-out programme, the department’s chief director Dr Lesley Bamford gave a blow by blow plan detailing the online registration, walk-ins and the on-day vaccination process. To kick off, Bamford said that nobody can be vaccinated unless they were on the EVDS, but indicated assisted registration was part of the vaccination process.

Rush for essential worker status in second phase

In the run-up to the start of the second phase of South Africa’s vaccine roll-out, the National Department of Health has received a large number of applications from different sectors wanting to be considered as essential workers. This scepticism is so strong that in my database of the top daily online news articles from IOL, News24 and TimesLive in January, one of the words that showed the strongest statistical association with “vaccine” was “unlikely”.  News24 reported on 5 January that Wits University School of Governance Adjunct Professor Alex van den Heever had said that “because South Africa had not entered into any bilateral agreements with vaccine

South Africa Launches Electronic Vaccination Data System

South Africa Launches Electronic Vaccination Data System Wed 03rd February 2021 | 12:00 PM JOHANNESBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 03rd February, 2021) OHANNESBURG, February 3 (Sputnik), Thabiso Lehoko - South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Wednesday morning launched the Electronic Vaccination Data System to keep track of everyone who receives the COVID-19 vaccine as South Africa gears up for its historical mass vaccination campaign. It is a pleasure to launch the electronic system. This digital health system will provide critical data and an electronic database system built on the system already implemented. We welcome all to enroll. More than 34000 health workers have already registered. It takes less than two minutes to register and you can also register at the vaccination line, Mkhize said during an online event.
