Majoro appointed ABC deputy leader Majoro appointed ABC deputy leader Share Pascalinah Kabi PRIME Minister Moeketsi Majoro has been appointed deputy leader of the ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC). He replaces Professor Nqosa Mahao who dumped the ABC to form the Basotho Action Party (BAP) after falling out with Dr Majoro and secretary general Lebohang Hlaele whom he both accused of conniving to hand back the party and government to former Prime Minister and current ABC leader Thomas Thabane. His appointment was announced by the ABC’s national executive committee (NEC) at a media briefing at the State House this week. The briefing was attended by Mr Thabane, NEC members and members of parliament (MPs) who pledged their support for Dr Majoro to remain prime minister until next year’s elections.

Fresh factory strike looms MASERU – SIX trade unions say they will down tools next Friday to press Labour Minister Moshe Leoma to gazette a new minimum wage for factory workers. The strike will be a follow-up to one they held two weeks ago in the Thetsane Industrial Area where three workers were shot and injured by the riot police. FIFA condemns Setsoto Stadium THE Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has condemned Setsoto Stadium for hosting FIFA fixtures. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced this week that Setsoto Stadium and a host of other stadia in Senegal, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Mali, Central African Republic, Burundi, Eritrea, Chad, Gambia and Namibia had been banned from hosting FIFA fixtures. All the countries whose stadia have been condemned will have to play their home games in the World Cup qualifiers starting in June in foreign countries. Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) secretary general Mokhosi Mohapi confirmed the news to the Lesotho Times yesterday. He however, said Lesotho was not affected by the ban after being knocked out from the qualifiers by Ethiopia in 2019.
