Douglas Andrews It sounds like a bad joke. Our nation’s federal government employs some four million people, and the highest-paid person among them is Dr. Anthony Fauci. So we wonder: Has this guy ever had a performance review? More than 3,200 pages of Fauci’s emails are now public, having been obtained by BuzzFeed News through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. They cover the Not-So-Good Doctor’s communications with all manner of correspondents during the period from January to June 2020, and they give us a glimpse into how Fauci handled his job. They also further degrade his reputation as the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases — and, even more than that, his reputation for honesty and integrity.

Remembering that I don’t write enough Bronx posts, I set off to parade around the near geographical center of the Bronx in the Crotona Park area. Crotona Park, the neighborhood and the park, isn’t near the Croton Aqueduct, which runs through the western Bronx; it was named for a colony in ancient Greece famed for Olympic athletes. It was purchased from the estate belonging to Andrew Bathgate in the 1880s; a dispute with the Bathgate family prevented the new Crotona Park from being named for them. Bathgate Ave. today remembers these early Bronx gentry.

Instead, we want everyone else or, in some cases, FedGov to take the responsibility that is incumbent upon us to take. And then we are left scratching our heads, and proposing even more dangerous “solutions” to the problem at hand. I’ll give an example: Article V. As you know, Article V was given to us by the Founders as just one tool to combat Federal overreach. But I have to question, how did we allow that overreach in the first place? That’s an easy answer: We got comfortable. We got complacent. We amassed our toys and our homes & properties and cars and big screen TV’s and we celebrated as we moved up the corporate ladder and, as life began to get more comfortable, we began to get more complacent, slowly giving up so many smaller freedoms, all in the name of ‘security’, or rather, the ability to secure all those “things” we amassed and which ma
