South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett has clashed with journalists in a fiery defence of the NRL s players across the league, in which he claims a number of individuals in the game have been wrongly accused of being the reason behind the recent string of blowouts.
After Bennett s Bunnies enjoyed their fourth-straight win following a 16-point victory over the Wests Tigers today, he was asked to comment on the current competitive structure of the competition.
Bennett acknowledged the disparity in games over the weekend but said the bulk of the blame should land with some of the clubs and the way they re treating some of their players.

The Blues are about as settled as they can be for the clash against the Force (7.05pm kickoff) where they will attempt to make it a clean sweep of all five Australian teams. With three bonus points from the first four matches, the Auks are in the box seat, a point clear of the Highlanders and Crusaders who can also make it five from five this weekend. Their superior points difference also works in their favour should things get a little sticky come Saturday night. Both the southern sides would have to win very big to create any major angst.
