3 Georgia State Senators Lose Committee Posts Over Calls to Overturn Presidential Election

Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan stripped senators Brandon Beach, Matt Brass and Burt Jones of their chairmanships of various committees as a new Georgia Assembly session convened this week.
Beach and Jones were removed as chairs of the transportation committee and the insurance and labor committees, respectively. According to the
Journal-Constitution, neither lawmaker will even be a ranking member on the two panels. Brass will still oversee the banking committee but was demoted from serving as a chairman on a more politically influential committee.

Minutes after Biden’s Electoral College victory was affirmed, Trump announced Barr had submitted his resignation, effective a month before his term was to end. Though Trump has insisted Barr is leaving on good terms, reportedly Trump soured on Barr after his early December remarks to The Associated Press that he has “not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election”.
ATLANTA – The U.S. Supreme Court early Friday evening rejected a lawsuit filed by the state of Texas seeking to invalidate the presidential election results in Georgia and three other states.
In an unsigned order, the justices ruled that Texas lacks the legal standing to challenge the outcome of the Nov. 3 voting in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, handing President Donald Trump a major defeat.
“Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the matter in which another state conducts its elections,” the court ruled.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican and Trump ally, filed the suit earlier this week seeking to block the Electoral College from electing the next president on Monday. It claimed irregularities during the Nov. 3 election in all four states made it impossible to determine which candidate won.
