may be sold separately and requires the Lenovo Smart Clock 2 to be docked (
select models) to use charging base – we suspect that the Smart Clock 2 will be sold both as a standalone unit, and with the charging dock as a bundle.
As with the previous model, the Smart Clock 2 is a Google Home device that s able to play music and use Google Assistant for all the usual smart home needs, including the ability to control other smart devices in the home.
The slightly taller design has allowed the integration of two front-firing 3W speakers and stereo audio – certainly an improvement on the predecessor s singular 3W speaker and mono playback, but we don t expect it ll bring up to the quality of dedicated smart speaker audio.

Lenovo is back with more smart clocks. It’s one of a handful of third-party companies that make Google Assistant-powered displays, and we were impressed by the original Lenovo Smart Clock’s simplicity and low price. Lenovo then followed it up with the Smart Clock Essential, which was basically a smaller alarm clock with speakers and a mic for you to talk to Google’s Assistant. This time around, the company is launching the Smart Clock 2, and it offers some improvements over its predecessor for $10 more. Plus, it comes with a wireless charging pad that lets you juice up your compatible devices and doubles as a nightlight.

The Lenovo Smart Clock and Smart Clock Essential are both functional, attractive alarm clocks with some extra smart home capabilities. Today, Lenovo has announced the next in line: the Lenovo Smart Clock 2.
The big news is that the Google Assistant-powered Smart Clock 2 can come with an optional wireless charging dock, which can juice up Qi-compatible devices. This dock can also act as what Lenovo describes as “a soft, ambient nightlight.”
Beyond that, Lenovo says the new Smart Clock has an updated design with three color options that blend in with “nearly any home decor.” And 85 percent of the plastic on the device is made from recycled materials.
More interesting is the new wireless charging dock, which will come bundled with the Smart Clock 2.

The Lenovo Smart Clock’s wireless charging dock is both Qi- and MagSafe-compatible, and it has an integrated night light plus a rear USB-A charging port.
Roughly the same depth as the revamped Smart Clock but a few inches wider, the dock sits underneath the clock and attaches to it via a series of pogo pins.
When connected, the dock can wirelessly charge a Qi-compliant phone, and it’s compatible with Apple’s MagSafe standard. If you prefer wired charging, the dock has a rear USB-A charging port.
