College digital media students design logos for Western Gateway Trade and Logistics Corridor

College digital media students design logos for Western Gateway Trade and Logistics Corridor Poll Yes Lethbridge College’s Digital Communications and Media (DCM) program students recently helped build the visual identity through a logo design challenge for Canada’s Western Gateway Trade and Logistics Corridor. Students were given the opportunity to create a logo and pitch their designs to the stakeholders as part of the competitive process. Canada’s Western Gateway chose elements of designs from two students, Cole Cyre and Colton Won, and the organization will work with the students to create the final product. “We are extremely pleased at the successful result of the collaboration between Canada’s Western Gateway and the design students at Lethbridge College in creating our new logo,” says Martin Ebel, Economic Development Officer, Lethbridge County, in a news release.

Vaccine will save lives, says Hinshaw; 85 active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat

“There is overwhelming scientific evidence that vaccination is the best defense against serious infections. When it is your turn, please get immunized. It is an act of kindness for yourself, for your loved ones and for your community.” Vaccinations will only be administered in Calgary and Edmonton for now but will expand to priority health-care workers province-wide when another 25,000 doses arrive next week. There are 85 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat. The city now has had 392 total cases – the 85 active, 302 recovered and there have been five deaths. There are eight new cases in the city in Wednesday’s update and six recoveries.

The County of Forty Mile is showing zero active cases. Across the province, there are 20,649 active cases, down 474 from Monday, and 61,934 recovered cases, up 1,804. Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases from the start of the pandemic is 83,327. There are 1,341 new cases in the province today. There are now 742 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 137 of which are in ICU, and 744 deaths. The province completed 16,353 tests in the past 24 hours. The provincial positivity rate is 8.2 per cent. New outreach programs and supports are being rolled out in 11 areas of highest infection and transmission. Nine of those areas are in Edmonton, two in Calgary.

Record daily number of COVID-19 cases in Alberta

The provincial positivity rate is 8.0 per cent. Earlier on Monday during a news conference about Alberta’s vaccine distribution plan, the province’s chief medical officer of health announced 1,887 new cases of COVID-19 were identified over the past 24 hours. Dr. Deena Hinshaw said there are now 716 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, 136 of which are in ICU. Fifteen more COVID-19 deaths were reported by Hinshaw, and the death toll is now at 733. With reproductive values in Edmonton at 1.0, in Calgary at 0.92 and at 1.01 in the rest of the province, Hinshaw said it appears the cases plateaued over the week. A reproductive value of one shows that each person with the virus is, on average, infecting one other person.
