Protests to highlight maternity restriction take place nationwide this week
Protests will be held outside a number of hospitals from this morning to highlight how the Covid-19 restrictions are affecting maternity patients and their partners.
Maternity advocacy group AIMS will be at Letterkenny Hospital in Donegal, Holles Street and The Coombe in Dublin and Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
They’re calling for an easing of restrictions that prevent partners from attending scans.
Further protests are planned for later this week in Cork, Killkenny, Westmeath, Laois, Limerick, Wexford and Sligo.

THERE ARE NOW 173 people with Covid-19 being treated in hospital.
This figure is accurate as of 8pm last night from the HSE’s Daily Operations Update.
This is an increase of just one from 8am yesterday morning, however, many hospitals do not discharge patients at the same rate over the weekend. There were 163 people in hospital at 8pm on Saturday evening.
The hospitals with the highest numbers of Covid-19 patients last night include Tallaght Hospital (19), Mater Hosptial (16), Letterkenny Hospital (15), Connolly Hospital (13) and Naas Hospital (12).

THE NUMBER OF Covid-19 vaccines administered by the HSE has hit over 40,000 doses for the second day in a row.
Figures correct to Friday show that there were 42,756 doses of Covid-19 vaccines administered, with a total of 1,359,921 doses administered in total since the rollout began.
Of the 42,756 doses, 31,631 jabs were first doses while 11,125 jabs were second doses.
The total number of first doses is 966,611, which according to vaccine group chair Brian MacCraith is over 25% of the total adult population.

ONE IN FOUR adults in Ireland have now received at least their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
This is according to the Chair of Ireland’s High-Level Task Force on Covid-19 Vaccination, Brian MacCraith.
A total of 41,337 vaccines were administered on Thursday, according to the latest figures from the HSE. This is the highest number of vaccines administered in a single day so far in the rollout.
