Shelby Miller made another rehab start tonight and there was some good news and less good news. Miller pitched 3.1 innings and gave up just one unearned run on three hits. But he did walk three batters while striking out four. He threw 64 pitches and 37 were strikes.
Adrian Sampson made his Cubs organization debut when he entered the game in the sixth inning. He was quite good for three innings, keeping the Saints from scoring in all three. The Iowa Cubs no-hit Indianapolis, 2-0. Iowa finishes the series winning three-of-five.
Shelby Miller started this game on a rehab assignment and pitched three innings. He gave up one walk and struck out five.
Tommy Nance relieved Miller in the fourth and pitched the next three innings and got the win. He also walked one and struck out five. In addition, because the I-Cubs only had two hitters on their bench today, Nance had to bat for himself in the fifth inning with runners on the corners and one out. In his first professional plate appearance, Nance hit a sac fly to center field for the first run of the game. It was almost a hit.
