Logistics, supply company allegedly violated BIPA with employee fingerprint scans

EAST ST. LOUIS An international logistics and supply management company with more than 10 facilities in Illinois, is facing a class action alleging it illegally collected employees biometric data.  Zyanne Garner, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint April 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois East St. Louis Division against Geodis USA LLC, Geodis Logistics LLC frequently known as Ozburn Hessey Logistics LLC and Geodis Transportation LLC frequently known as Ozburn-Hessey Logistics LLC and OHL Transportation alleging violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).  Garner alleges in the class action that she began working for the defendants in September of 2018 through May 2019, at its Geodis facility on Gateway Commerce Center Drive in Edwardsville. Woman claims she developed breast cancer from weight loss drug

Denton EAST ST. LOUIS A woman alleges she developed breast cancer as a result of taking the weight loss drug Belviq. Sharon Govan and Hildred Govan filed a complaint April 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois East St. Louis Division against Eisai Inc., and Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc., alleging negligence, strict products liability, breach of express warranty and fraudulent misrepresentation and concealment. Govan was prescribed Belviq, also known as lorcaserin hydrochloride, for weight loss by her physician Dr. Markel Owens in July of 2014, according to the plaintiffs suit.  As a result of taking the defendants drug Belviq, Sharon Govan suffered severe side effects including breast cancer, the suit claims. She claims that the defendants falsely represented that Belviq was safe and effective for chronic weight management and failed to warn of the drug s adverse side effects and risks. Alton property allegedly contaminated from former Citigroup aluminum plant

Curtis EAST ST. LOUIS CTI development is suing Citigroup for allegedly failing to remove and prevent hazardous waste from flowing onto surrounding property at a former aluminum manufacturing plant in Alton.  CTI Development LLC filed a complaint Feb. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois East St. Louis Division against Citigroup Inc., and MRC Holdings Inc., alleging negligence, trespass, strict Liability and other claims.  According to the complaint, CTI Development owns property located on Chessen Lane in Alton that is adjacent to property owned by Citigroup. CTI alleges Citgroup s subsidiary, MRC Holdings, currently owns property located about 2,000 feet from the Mississippi River. The property is allegedly the former site of an USRC and ACC aluminum smelter operation.
