On a perfect Sunday morning, with calm seas and just as the new dawn was breaking on 28th February, at 06 23 44 hrs UTC French skipper Alexia Barrier crossed the finish line of the ninth Vendée Globe off Les Sables d Olonne to complete her race in 24th position of the 33 skippers who started the race on Sunday 8th November.
Racing the oldest boat in the fleet, the 41-year old Mediterranean skipper showed great stamina and tenacity to complete the 24,365 miles course in a passage time of 111 days, 17 hours, 03 minutes, her race always reflecting her great enthusiasm and her huge appetite for life.

With her usual quiet, understated efficiency British skipper Miranda Merron completed the Vendée Globe solo round the world race quest this Wednesday night, breaking the finish line off Les Sables d Olonne, France at 22:16:51hrs UTC after 101 days 8hrs 56mins 51secs at sea to take 22nd place in the race on her IMOCA 60 Campagne de France.
She finishes 21d 5hrs 12mins after winner Yannick Bestaven and 1d 12hrs 48mins after 21st placed French skipper Clement Giraud.
Her result is highly commendable and fulfils the simple target she set herself, to finish the course bringing her boat and herself back to Les Sables d Olonne in good shape, having fully embraced and enjoyed all of the challenges that came her way on a race she considered she was peaking for at just the right time for me , 51 years old.

Alan Roura, the young Swiss skipper of La Fabrique, crossed the finish line of the Vendée Globe at 19:29:56hrs UTC today (Thursday 11th February) to secure 17th position after 95 days, six hours, nine minutes and 56 seconds of racing.
Completing his second Vendée Globe today at just 27 years of age, Roura was the youngest competitor among the 33 solo skippers who left Les Sables d Olonne on Sunday November 8th.
In the 2016-17 edition, Roura made history, then at 23 years old, as the youngest ever sailor to finish the race. This time, and racing a more modern, competitive boat than in 2016-17, Roura suffered technical problems with his keel hydraulics early in the race which reoccurred until he finally had to fix his keel in a central position resulting in a loss of performance.
