NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Generations Hal will reopen to the public for the first time since March 2020 with a “Back to the 80s Night” party hosted by Scoot on Saturday, July 17. Doors open at 8 p.m. to celebrate the venue’s return, the building’s 200th anniversary and to pay tribute to one of the city’s longest-tenured radio talk show hosts now marking 50 years of broadcasting.
Generations Hall, like many event venues across the country, lost millions of dollars when it closed 18 months ago, and loyal patrons have been anxiously awaiting the reopening of the iconic entertainment complex which coincides with the building’s 200th anniversary. Originally built as a riverfront sugar refinery in the early 1820s, Generations Hall was the centerpiece of the Italian Pavilion during the 1984 World’s Fair and once was home to City Lights, the hottest night attraction in New Orleans.
