Human blood and fibers discovered in Kristin Smart murder case

San Luis Obispo County investigators discovered human blood under the home of Paul Flores’ father in 2021, court records show. They also found fabric fibers in the place where they believe the body of Kristin Smart was buried.
Ground penetrating radar found a 6 foot by four foot anomaly under Ruben Flores’ home in early 2021. Four soil samples taken from the area then tested positive for human blood, but not for DNA evidence, records show.
Archeologist Cindy Arrington found staining in the dirt to indicate a body had been put in a hole, a chemical poured over it, the hole filled in and the body moved later.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. San Luis Obispo County will be conducting annual maintenance on the Early Warning System sirens beginning on July 19.
The County is working with PG&E to inspect and test 131 sirens in the area. This is to help ensure that the system is ready during emergencies.
The sounding of the Early Warning System sirens is an indication that the Emergency Alert System has been activated and the public should tune to a local radio or television station for emergency information and instructions. Although the Early Warning System sirens were installed and are maintained as one of the requirements related to the operation of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, the sirens can be used for any local emergency where there is a need for the public to take action.

Investigators found “rape fantasy” pornography and videos that allegedly showed Kristin Smart murder defendant Paul Flores raping an intoxicated woman during a 2020 search of his San Pedro home, a prosecutor revealed Wednesday in San Luis Obispo Superior Court.
Flores, 44, is accused of killing the Cal Poly freshman, who disappeared in 1996. San Luis Obispo County officials have previously said that the murder occurred during a rape or attempted rape.
