Filipino bet Lara Pearl Alvarez brings with her the lessons from a turbulent past when she participates in ONE Championship’s edition of hit reality series “The Apprentice.”
Alvarez, who used to train martial arts in the famed Benguet-based stable Team Lakay and now a freelance tax accountant, is among the 16 participants in the “toughest version” of “The Apprentice” which will premiere in Asia next month and globally in June.
The 25-year-old Alvarez said the discipline and mental toughness she mastered while training in Team Lakay back in the days brought out the best in her when she joined the globally-acclaimed show.

The two Filipino MMA fighters are among the 16 candidates from 11 countries announced on February 4 to be joining the global hit reality TV show of high-stakes competition involving business and physical challenges presented by the largest sports media company.

ONE CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong announced Wednesday night the final participants in arguably the “toughest version” of the hit reality show set to premiere on Asia in March and globally in June.
Lara Pearl Alvarez and Louie Sangalang, both born from Baguio, will showcase their leadership, entrepreneurship and athletic skills alongside 14 other contestants from around the world.
Per ONE’s special website of The Apprentice, Alvarez and Sangalang both practiced martial arts before venturing into another chapter of their lives.
Alvarez now works as a freelance tax accountant and Sangalang, aside from being an educator, had led the procurement and purchasing department of a notable health insurance company before setting up and running his own procurement consulting firm.
