A senior Liverpool City Council director is being investigated over a tweet he sent that made reference to his mother-in-law drowning. Steve Reddy is the council s director of children s services and also leads the authority s domestic abuse strategy. His comments have been described as misogynistic and as showing seriously flawed judgement and Liverpool Council has said it is carrying out an investigation and will take appropriate action.
Mr Reddy s tweet, which has now been deleted, made reference to his mother-in-law drowning in a car crash and suggested he had ordered a funeral wreath in the shape of a life-belt.
