Global IPO activity hits $140bn, smashing previous year-to-date record set in 2007
Shutterstock Latham & Watkins is leading Refinitiv’s league table for advising global IPO issuers, with companies raising a record amount of capital from going public this year. By May 10th, 670 deals had been issued worldwide worth a record $140.3bn – 53% more than the previous record at this point in the calendar set in 2007 in the run up to the financial crisis. The 670 deals was also the highest number of IPOs year-to-date in more than two decades, according to Refinitv.

Lucifer Furnaces of Warrington, Pa. currently defends three asbestos suits in circuit court and has obtained 23 dismissals in seven years.
The name jumps out from a mass of Madison County defendants that lawyers Mark Behrens and Mary Margaret Gay estimated at 900 in an April 29 report on litigation reform.
Their report asserts that plaintiffs started suing smaller businesses after asbestos producers declared bankruptcy and created trusts to pay claims.
Lucifer Furnaces fits the low profile.
It doesn’t file anything with the Securities Exchange Commission, and no one has sued it in its own county.
An employee sued Lucifer at U.S. district court in Philadelphia in 2018, in a handicap accommodation dispute, and settled in six months.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Lake Charles Police Department says the woman reported missing on Orchid Street has been found.
Lucille Jones, 60, of Lake Charles, was reported missing from the 2100 block of Orchid Street.
Lake Charles police sent out an alert around 10:15 a.m. that she had been found.
