The 2021 International Clinical Researcher of the Year competition will continue the successes of last year and be conducted virtually.
Last year s competition was a completely virtual affair, with the individual finalists and teams competing via video link from all corners of the globe. Despite the slight change in direction, the 2020 competition was a great success and our finalists gave extremely positive feedback about how the finals days operated.
Lucy Knight of PSI CRO and Silver placed in the 2020 Project Manager category had this to say about the virtual finals day,

Actor and rapper Deezer D. (born Dearon Thompson) was known for various projects, from portraying Stab Master Arson in the 1993 rap spoof
Cool As Ice, but arguably his most memorable role had far less to do with his musical talents. Deezer D. starred on
ER for its entire 15-season run, portraying the kind and lovable Nurse Malik McGrath, and he appeared in more episodes than any other
ER actor, save for Noah Wyle, Laura Innes, and Laura Cerón. Sadly, the actor passed away this week at 55 years old.
Deezer D. s death was first reported on by TMZ, as his brother revealed the actor was found unresponsive in his home on Thursday evening. It s suspected that Deezer D. died of a heart attack, though no official cause of death has been confirmed. His death sent shockwaves through his friends, family and fans, since he was in the midst of building up his music career, having announced via Instagram just a few days ago that a new album would be dropping next week.

Flying the flag for excellence in global clinical research, the prestigious PharmaTimes International Clinical Researcher of the Year opens its doors for entry.
After an innovative 2020 competition which saw our finalists compete virtually, the 2021 competition has launched, offering once again a renowned challenge designed to test, develop, and reward clinical researchers working all over the globe.
As the finals days for the 2020 competition could not take place primarily face-to-face like in previous years, PharmaTimes and the executive steering committee had to innovate to ensure the competition maintained its core values, whilst running smoothly. Each candidate, as well as the teams, presented their ideas in response to the brief via video link to great success - with the finalists’ keen to offer their praise.
Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart won the Booker Prize
The critics’ top eight choices based on Christmas selections in national newspapers, the London Evening Standard, the TLS, The Spectator and the New Statesman. Plus, we take a look at some of the other best books which were released in 2020.
Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart
The winner of this year’s Booker Prize is a tale of poverty, addiction and abuse set in and around Glasgow in the 1980s. Shuggie Bain’s mother is an alcoholic; his father, a violent, fitfully present taxi driver. As family members drift away, he becomes his mother’s sole carer – and it is their relationship that forms the novel’s emotional core. First-time author Douglas Stuart was praised for his poetic, slang-studded prose, and for his ability to find good in his characters, no matter how despicable their behaviour. Some critics, however, thought the book would have benefited from more rigorous editing.
