GP representatives to meet HSE this evening on ‘suitable’ locations for mRNA vaccine rollout
Vaccination of first and second doses to recommence for GPs next week
Representatives of the Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) and the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) are due to meet with HSE officials this evening (Friday) to discuss the latest adjustments to the rollout of the national vaccination plan.
The latest amendment to the plan follows a Government policy decision to opt for the two mRNA vaccines currently licensed and available here, Pfizer/BioNtech and Moderna.
The original plan had aimed to employ the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine for the third priority group to be vaccinated, numbering about 480,000, which includes people of 70 and over.
A further 75 deaths linked to Covid-19 and 1,318 new cases has been confirmed by the Department of Health this evening.
Forty-six of these deaths occurred in February, 27 occurred in January, and two were earlier, bringing the death toll to 3,586.
The median age of those who died is 84 years and the age range is 34-100 years.
There is now a total of 200,744 cases of the virus in Ireland.
Of the cases notified today, 428 are in Dublin, 122 in Cork, 93 in Galway, 78 in Kildare, 77 in Limerick and the remaining 520 cases are spread across all other counties.
As of 2pm today, 1,284 Covid-19 patients are in hospital, 188 of which are in ICU.
14 New Cases Of COVID-19 Confirmed In Clare; 1,318 New Cases Nationally

14 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Clare this evening with 879 new cases confirmed nationwide.
Clare’s incidence rate of 216.3 per 100,000 people is still the fifth lowest in the country.
1,318 new cases and 75 deaths were confirmed nationally today.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today, Thursday, February 4 been notified of 75 additional deaths related to COVID-19.
46 of these deaths occurred in February, 27 occurred in January, 2 were earlier.
The median age of those who died is 84 years and the age range is 34-100 years.
There has been a total of 3,586 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.
As of midnight, Wednesday 3rd February, the HPSC has been notified of 1,318 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 200,744 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.
Of the cases notified today:
622 are men / 688 are women
