Pre-Race Scenes From Challenge Miami

Pre-Race Scenes From Challenge Miami It is a year to the day since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Lockdowns, masks, closures, and cancellations have been the rule rather than the exception over the past twelve months. But here we are with a glimmer of hope of normalcy. After a successful PTO Championships at Challenge Daytona, both organizations look to build on that momentum with the 2021 edition of Challenge Miami. Our own Eric Wynn is on site for coverage this week, and was able to capture these moments in the build-up for the unique middle-distance event, taking place entirely within Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Brownlee and Spirig plotting to break iron-distance triathlon world records

Brownlee and Spirig plotting to break iron-distance triathlon world records Thursday, 28 January 2021 Back-to-back Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee is one of four athletes who will look to break the iron-distance triathlon world record next year. Britain s London 2012 and Rio 2016 gold medallist is set to take on the iron distance, which features a 3.8-kilometre swim, 180km cycle and 42km run. The 42km run is an athletics marathon in its own right. Brownlee is tentatively scheduled to embark on the record attempt between March and May in 2022, along with Norway s Kristian Blummenfelt, who holds the half-iron-distance world record. The men s world record of 7 hours 35min 39sec is currently held by Germany s Jan Frodeno, but the pair want to break the seven-hour mark under the Pho3nix SUB7 banner.
