Alcantara, seeded 12 th pick Eric Hadigian, 6-3, 6-4. Alcantara appeared in control of his matches with straight-set victories en route to the final, but proved the Hadigian was too hot to handle. After earning an opening-round bye, the Filipino bet blanked Anders Matta, 6-0, 6-0 in the Round of 32, then followed it up with a 6-0, 6-2 thumping of Luke Neal in the Round of 16.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Boone County polling places on Tuesday s municipal election day will continue coronavirus safety protocols for the second year in a row. According to the Boone County Clerk, you ll need a mask and an ID to vote at your polling place. On this year s ballot, voters will be debating over school board positions, city council spots, bond issues and a spot in the state s house of representatives. Columbians will see five candidates vying for two spots on the school board. Voters will choose one incumbent, Teresa Maledy and four newcomers including Luke Neal, Katherine Sasser, Aaron Saylor and Jeanne Snodgrass.

Light turnout reported at Boone County polling places Tuesday

In Columbia, voters in the Second and Sixth wards were casting ballots for City Council seats. In the Second Ward, Bill Weitkemper, Jim Meyer and Andrea Waner are competing to replace Mike Trapp, who chose not to seek election to a fourth three-year term. In the Sixth Ward, incumbent Betsy Peters is seeking a third term and faces challenges from Randy Minchew and Philip Merriman. There are five people seeking one of two three-year terms on the Columbia School Board. They are incumbent Teresa Maledy and newcomers Luke Neal, Aron Saylor, Katherine Sasser and Jeanne Snodgrass. A special election to replace Kip Kendrick as 45th District state representative is also on the ballot. The candidates are Democrat David Tyson Smith and Libertarian Glenn Nielsen.

One incumbent, four newcomers fighting for two seats on Columbia s Board of Education

ABC17 News COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) After a year for school districts across the country that was unlike any in recent history, five Columbia residents are asking voters for a spot on the seven-member Board of Education. Two seats are up in Tuesday s election, currently filled by Susan Blackburn and Teresa Maledy. Blackburn, the vice president of the board who was originally elected in 2018, dropped out of this race in January after deciding to not seek another term. Maledy s term is also set to expire, and she is asking voters to let her keep the seat. Luke Neal, Katherine Sasser, Aron Saylor and Jeanne Snodgrass are also seeking one of the two school board seats up for election. The two with the highest vote totals when the ballots are tallied will the race.
