SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Wagner College men’s outdoor track & field team won its first-ever Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Track and Field title Sunday after scoring 110 points on day two to finish atop of the 10-team field with a final score of 165.
The Seahawks, whose roster is littered with Staten Islanders, entered the final day with a 21-point lead.
Central Connecticut, who was in sixth place at the end of the competition on day one, finished second with 128 points while Mount St. Mary’s, who entered the final day in second, dropped down to third, finishing with 115 points.

That’s what the Wagner College men’s cross country team, littered with several Staten Islanders including coach Joe Stasi, did as it captured the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship for the second straight year.
The Seahawks totaled 41 points, with four finishers in the top eight.
Trausti Thorsteins of Iceland was named the 2020 NEC Most Outstanding Performer for the second time in his Seahawk career after crossing the finish line at 24:28.7 in the men’s 8K race.
