Matt Olson was deep into his offseason film study back home in Atlanta when he had finally seen enough. He was disgusted.
Coming off a career-worst season in which he hit .195 with 14 home runs, the A’s first baseman could not bear to watch another clip of his swing. Olson knew that wasn’t him in those clips. It was some other hitter whose busted approach was the result of an amalgamation of the many quick fixes that were attempted under the tight constraints of a shortened 60-game regular-season schedule.
“I had a really bad year, in my opinion,” Olson said. “I felt, in a way, it let the team down and we came up short of the World Series. You check yourself in the mirror after the season. I felt motivated to fix some stuff and wanted to come out strong.”

Whether they’re a buyer or a seller, every front-office decision-maker around the Majors has an objective between now and the July 30 Trade Deadline: get better.
For some, that means fortifying a roster with an eye toward October. For others, it’s looking ahead to 2022 and beyond, trying to put their club in the best position going forward.
Regardless of what the standings say, all 30 teams figure to make some type of move in the coming weeks. With that in mind, here’s a look at one possible upgrade for each club:
AMERICAN LEAGUE EAST
Blue Jays: Bullpen
Toronto started to address its relief corps with trades for Adam Cimber and Trevor Richards, but the Blue Jays are still in need of a high-end arm to join the back end of the bullpen. Jordan Romano leads the club with six saves one of six Blue Jays pitchers to earn at least one this season but Toronto would benefit from the addition of a proven late-inning reliever.

I’m being a little selfish this week. A few of the players who were dropped in six leagues interested me, so I included them. I seperated out the hitters in Colorado. I think they were not good enough hitters to roster, but I don’t know for sure. I’ll study the Colorado threshold later this week.
For this weekly feature, I use the NFBC Main Event because of the number of identical leagues. Additionally, the managers stay engaged longer on the whole since each spent $1700 per team. I tried to find that sweet spot between the obvious and bizarre drops and will focus on players dropped in seven to ten leagues. Previously the number was six to nine, but I adjusted with the Main Event adding four leagues since I did the report.
