More details regarding Monday’s shooting in San Luis Obispo were released at a press conference yesterday. Two detectives, Luca Benedetti and Steve Orozco were serving a search warrant at an apartment on Camellia Court. Six officers approached the apartment. When no one responded, the door was forced open. According to police, that’s when Edward Giron opened fire striking both Benedetti and Orozco. Other officers returned fire. Giron was found with a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot wound, and other injuries consistent with return fire. Detective Benedetti would die from his injuries. Detective Orozco is expected to recover.
