At the start of the day the Liberal nomination in the riding of Lunenburg West was set to be contested by at least two candidates, but by the afternoon it featured a surprise withdrawal.
Culburt made her intentions known on Monday but after Naugler entered the race, she bowed out.
In a Facebook video, Culbert explained that based on her personal and professional experiences with contested elections she has decided to halt her campaign.
In her video, she goes on to explain that Naugler is a great candidate in her opinion and she encouraged people to support her campaign.

The former chair of the South Shore Regional School Board is seeking the nomination as the Liberal candidate in Lunenburg West.
”Over the last several weeks a number of community members approached me about seeking the nomination. I had many conversations with my family and close circle of friends and found a lot of support for me to run,” said Naugler. “I am confident I do have the experience, the understanding of the community and the support I need to step up and take on this challenge.”
Naugler was first elected and served as a school board member in 2012. She was immediately elected as Chair, which she served for three terms and continued in the role until school boards were dissolved in 2018.
