UH to require COVID-19 vaccination for on-campus students this fall | University of Hawaiʻi System News

The University of Hawaiʻi System is adding the COVID-19 vaccination to its student health clearance requirements beginning in the fall 2021 semester. This means that, to be on any UH campus, students must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As with existing health clearance requirements, students will be able to request exemptions for medical and religious reasons. More detailed information will be made available in the coming months as implementation plans are finalized. “It is clear that a vaccinated campus is a safer campus for everyone, and a fully vaccinated student community enables the best opportunity for a healthy return to high-quality face-to-face teaching, learning and research,” said

ESL, System Assessment Coordinator Representative, Kapiʻolani CC UH President David Lassner convened a working group to, “develop a plan for the redesign of general education at UH both substantively, the skills, competencies and knowledge that comprise general education, as well as structurally, how general education is organized and the curriculum is maintained.” This is the first revision to the UH System’s General Education requirements since 1999, which makes this redesign process a monumental milestone in the UH System’s curriculum development. This is an opportunity for the university community to restructure UH’s program into a cutting edge model that best prepares students for the modernized, transforming world of industry and higher education that exists for them beyond graduation.

Officials make final push for vaccinations at key clinic in Leeward Oahu ahead of closure Casey Lund HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A major vaccination clinic in Leeward Oahu is closing Thursday. The vaccine point of distribution at Leeward Community College opened up on April 20 and since then, they’ve given out more than 51,000 inoculations. Vaccines offered at LCC are for anyone 18 and older. If you sign up for an appointment, you’ll be offered the Moderna shot. Appointments are available Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The vaccination site at LCC has been overseen by the Honolulu Emergency Management team, including the Honolulu Police Department and Honolulu Fire Department, as well as the city’s Emergency Services Department.
