Areas south of Miaoli could face a direct hit from the winds and see downpours, while cloudy to sunny skies are expected in northern and eastern Taiwan, with afternoon thunderstorms likely in mountainous areas, the bureau said. Temperature-wise, daytime highs could hit 34-36 degrees Celsius across the island, with the Greater Taipei area, Yilan in northeastern Taiwan and outlying Kinmen County likely to see even higher temperatures.
