The Norman City Council upheld its previous decision to cut nearly $1 million of the increase to the Norman Police Departmentâs fiscal year 2021 budget Tuesday.
The vote to remove $600,000 to community programs through two amendments passed 6-2, with Ward 6 Elizabeth Foreman and Ward 8 Matt Peacock voting against. The Ward 2 seat remains unfilled. Mayor Breea Clark, Foreman and Peacock voted no on a third amendment that reallocated $235,000 for a city auditor.
Students at Mississippi State University are turning a downtown retaining wall into a work of art.
They will be painting a mural titled From City Hall to Lee Hall: We re all in this together that will feature a long line of stylized buildings in various colors of the rainbow, progressing from iconic buildings in the city to buildings that characterize the campus of MSU. I think the whole idea of murals is to beautify the city and connect the physical city with the ideals and the things that people love, said Emily Harms, a junior graphic design major and the MSU student who designed the mural.

Olivier and Tony Award-winning producer David Pugh has announced a new Summer 2021 tour of his critically acclaimed production of Willy Russell’s EDUCATING RITA, starring Stephen Tompkinson and Jessica Johnson as Frank and Rita and directed by Max Roberts.
