Niceville s former The Voice contestant Jared Herzog returns

BLUE MOUNTAIN BEACH Jared Herzog has places to be. The Niceville native and former contestant on season 17 of NBC’s “The Voice” is now based back in Northwest Florida living in a carriage house in Blue Mountain Beach but is hardly staying put. He was supposed to fly from Houston, Texas, to Kenya to lead worship this past week, but the trip was canceled because of bad weather; now, he is spending time with his girlfriend in Tennessee, might come back to the Florida Panhandle and then in April will go to Nashville to perform in front of record label executives.

New exhibition to reveal A Place Within

PANAMA CITY For Victoria Rose Phillips, a change of scenery inspired the chance to reveal something from inside herself. “When my words fail to express what is in my heart, I allow my work to speak for me,” Phillips said. The Atlanta-based artist s work will be featured in a new exhibition, A Place Within, opening Monday, Feb. 8, at Gulf Coast State College s Amelia Center Gallery, presented by the GCSC Visual & Performing Arts Division. In addition to the show, Phillips will present an artist lecture via Zoom at 1 p.m. Feb. 12.  Many of the paintings in this exhibit were created in Skopelos, Greece, where Ms. Phillips completed an artist residency at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts, gallery director and instructor Pavel Amromin said in a recent email. While there, she was inspired by the mountainous landscapes paired with the endless ocean views.
