(CHICAGO) The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 2,102 new COVID-19 cases on Monday with 11 additional deaths. The new coronavirus death toll in Illinois is now up to 21,384. The latest hospitalization report shows 1,581 people with COVID-19 in statewide hospitals. Of those, 358 patients are in Intensive Care Units and 159 patients are on ventilators. According to Accuweather.com, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw Counties, as well as Sanilac, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair and Livingston Counties, from noon on Friday, New Year s Day, to 6 a.m. on Saturday.
A wintery mix of snow and ice is expected to fall, from 1 to 4 inches in these counties, while Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe Counties, which are also under another Winter Weather Advisory, are just expected to have freezing rain up to a tenth of an inch.
