(Photo by Stephanie Ujhelyi) EAST LIVERPOOL A Liverpool Township police officer didn’t get the opportunity to share his testimony Thursday morning, as the woman accused of dragging him nearly 100 feet decided to take her chances with the grand jury. Under the advice of public defender Charley Kidder, Brandi Lee Cope, of Lower Elkton Road in Columbiana, waived her preliminary hearing on charges of felonious assault, failure to comply with the order of a police officer Thursday morning before East Liverpool Municipal Court Judge Dominic Frank., who bound her over to the county grand jury.

Liverpool Township Robert Tucker was arrested t 5:10 p.m. Thursday on a charge of possession of marijuana, after police responded to the 1900 block of Campground Road. Officers were assisting city police after a man had pulled a firearm while in Berdine’s Bar in East Liverpool and left the scene to an address at Farr Hill Trailer Court. Tucker denied pulling the firearm but asserted that he had propositioned two prostitutes at Berdine’s and was refused. Upon a consent search of his residence, two BB guns, one of which fit the description relayed to investigators, and a little bit of weed were discovered. While Liverpool Township cited him for the pot, East Liverpool arrested Tucker on a charge of inducing panic.

Municipal LISBON An April 15 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set in county Municipal Court for David L. Todd, 49, Elkton-West Point Road, Lisbon, charged with felony charges of harassment by an inmate and assault of a police officer, as well as a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. On Friday, Todd was charged for allegedly charging Deputy Kevin Shulas’ police cruiser with a bag of potting soil and then took a swing at Shulas, striking him in the face, as Todd continued to actively resist arrest. Then after Todd was in handcuffs, he allegedly spit on Deputy Eric Buday’s arm. His bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.
