Revered by her peers as a go-getter and master strategist, Tameka Chevannes, has used her role as a public relations and marketing consultant to move roadblocks for several entertainers over the past decade. She established her company, ZaZa Communications as an ode to Dasrick ‘ZaZa’ Chevannes, her brother who died in a motor vehicle accident in 1997. “My brother’s creative spirit motivated me to take the next step and I wanted to keep his legacy alive,” she explains.
Through her company, Chevannes has worked on campaigns for the likes of Mr Vegas, Junior Kelly, Anthony Cruz, Junior Holt, Bamm Holt, Sista Sasha, Konshens, IWaata, Intence and Pressure Busspipe, among others. She shares, “I realised the importance of investing in the entertainment industry early, and in wanting to market, motivate, inspire, and build the culture and brand of Jamaica I decided to create a hub which could.”

Guardian Life held its annual year-end party via Zoom. The generally large celebration – involving key stakeholders, employees, customers, clients and brokers; sumptuous fare; décor; gifts and entertainment – was done differently in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Annette Atkinson, senior manager, corporate communications, Guardian Group Jamaica, told The Gleaner that the company believed it was still important to say thank you to its clients and employees for their contribution to their successes in what was described as a “difficult year”.
“This year, the company set about to host a Christmas luncheon with a difference last Friday, starting at 11:30 a.m., by remotely bringing together all its 700 staff members, situated in five locations across the island, even while observing the restrictions of COVID-19,” she said.

Pioneering a new way to present a stage show, live concert or events to boost customer engagement in a virtual space wasn’t in the cards when Aaron Spence embarked on establishing a brand in the entertainment community five years ago. But external forces have pressured the Kaboom Nation CEO to diversify the offerings for the company’s existing and prospective clients.
“We were originally an entertainment consultancy agency, which deals primarily with artistes’ bookings. That affords us the responsibility as the negotiator and goes as far as [us] accompanying the artistes overseas, such as, Shenseea in both Israel and Belize, Chronixx in Costa Rica and Hood Celebrity in Canada, as well as, long extended bookings, such as, Barrington Levy for his tour across the UK,” Spence explained, stating that 2020 was shaping up to be a good year for the 11-member team, before the pandemic. The team includes Spence, along with Devon Smith and Jabari Wallace who lead in the artiste liais
