Daily Monitor Tuesday February 02 2021 Advertisement                                                                                        Survivors of the Lord’s Resistance Army’s (LRA) two-decade insurgency in Lango and Acholi sub-regions have expressed mixed reactions  as they wait for the outcome of Thursday’s judgment by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Dominic Ongwen, a former top commander in the rebel group . Ongwen faces 70 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity that he allegedly committed in internally displaced camps in northern Uganda under the leadership of  Joseph Kony. Mr Patrick Abeja, the Abok Sub-county chairperson in Oyam District, says whether Ongwen is convicted or acquitted, the victims want compensation.

10 incumbents in Lango kicked out of Parliament

Daily Monitor Monday January 18 2021 Summary Daily Monitor has learnt that many factors played out in the background, leading to failure of the incumbents from retaining their seats. Advertisement At least 10 incumbent Members of Parliament from Lango Sub-region lost their seats in last Thursday’s General Election. Of these, four were National Resistance Movement (NRM) members, who were trounced during the party primaries and opted to run as independents; two were NRM official flag bearers, one belonged to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party while one represented Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC).  Lango is made up of nine districts and one city.
