Fitchburg State University’s Community Read of “Underland” by Robert MacFarlane continues with university faculty leading a virtual discussion of the book’s eighth chapter at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17.
“Red Dancers: Art Emerging from the Darkness” will be hosted virtually by the Leominster Public Library, one of the university’s Community Read partners. To attend the discussion, please register in advance at https://is.gd/7ppNyW.
This event features Fitchburg State Professors Sarah Bromberg, Sally Moore and Jessica Robey, all of the Humanities Department.
Robey will provide an overview of the discovery of prehistoric cave art and its reception in the 20th century. We ll look at how these earliest examples of culture lead to a reassessment of what it means to be human.
Lent, Piermarini reflect on the year that COVID-19 changed everything

When Nicole Piermarini walked through the doors of the Leominster Public Library for the first time as assistant library director on March 20, 2020, those same entrances had just closed to the public.
With the pandemic, much had changed. But she was determined at least one thing wouldn’t: The public would receive the service they expected and deserved, although that service might be delivered in a different fashion.
Piermarini was a familiar face in the area, having worked part-time in Leominster for seven years, as well as having experience at the Lunenburg Public Library.

Craft Kits to Go: Week of April 5
The Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children’s Room at the Leominster Public Library is offering the following Craft Kits to Go, with reservations beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 5:
• Neon Pop Tab Bracelets: This kit contains everything you need to make your own bracelet with brightly colored plastic tabs. This kit is appropriate for children aged 6 and up.
• Winking Owl Craft Kit: This kit contains everything you need to make a colorful owl with foam pieces. This kit is appropriate for children aged 3 and up.

• St. Patrick s Day Craft Stick Wreath: With this kit, you can create a cheerful decoration for St. Patrick s Day with craft sticks and self-adhesive foam pieces. This kit is appropriate for children aged 3 and up.
• Leprechaun Mask Craft Kit: This kit provides all the supplies to make a fun St. Patrick s Day mask using foam pieces, elastic bands and polyester strips. This kit is appropriate for children aged 3 and up.
