A plea has been entered by a Livingston County man charged with throwing a sandbag onto a womanâs car as she drove on I-96.
41-year-old David Vincent Garcia of Brighton was charged last year with three felony counts following an incident in Lyon Township; throwing objects at trains/cars causing serious impairment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and malicious destruction of personal property.
In Oakland County Circuit Court Thursday, a previous defense motion to pursue an insanity defense was withdrawn, and instead, Garcia entered a no-contest plea to the charges.

The latest proposed development at the Erwin Orchards site in Lyon Township would save the cider mill and most of the orchard.
Developer Lombardo Homes was before the Lyon Township Planning Commission, Monday night, for a conceptual plan review. Proposed was the planned development, Orchard Crossing, to be located at the corners of Pontiac Trail, Silver Lake Road, and Kent Lake Road.
Orchard Crossing would feature 121 single-family homes and 20 duplex buildings for a population density of .89 units per acre, which is below the allowed 1.25 units per acre. A previously rejected development at the site proposed closer to 400 homes. They also pledged a minimum of $150,000 to help with traffic improvements on that often busy stretch of road. There would be an event center, a tasting room, space for agri-tourism businesses, and perhaps most importantly, preservation of the cider mill and orchard.

Another developer is taking a shot at building homes on property occupied by a popular cider mill.
In 2019, the 490-unit Cider Mill Village project at Erwin Orchards in Lyon Township was denied by officials. This Monday, Lombardo Homes will present the planning commission a new concept plan for Orchards Crossing. According to hometownlife.com, Lombardo wishes to build 161 homes, an event venue, and a tasting room on the property. 121 units would be single-family homes, with the other 40 being duplexes. They would keep the existing cider mill and a portion of the orchards. The project will be a planned development contained within 181 acres. Roughly 70% of the site would reportedly remain open space.
