Vaccine events help Arizona restaurant and bar workers stay safe

On Monday, April 5, the brewing space at PHX Beer Co. was busy  but not just with beer-making. On that day, hundreds of people checked in for appointments to get a COVID-19 vaccine.  Leah Huss, co-owner of one of the largest breweries in the state, filled out vaccine cards. Then people followed signs and yellow ropes around brewing tanks to an array of yellow chairs where they sat and waited for their turn. After getting vaccinated near the company s working canning line, they moved into the taproom to wait 15 minutes to ensure no one experienced allergic reactions or other issues.  The Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, in conjunction with the PHX Beer Co. and Albertsons Companies, hosted the COVID-19 vaccine distribution event, providing one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines to members of the guild and brewery staff from around the state.

Why Phoenix restaurant leaders say reopening dine-in has no impact

It s been nearly a year since the COVID-19 pandemic forced Arizona restaurants to suspend indoor dining as part of the state s efforts to slow the virus spread. In the months since, owners have navigated a string of recommendations and regulations  which have almost uniformly curtailed their ability to operate, but have helped preserve public health.  On March 5, the state appeared to take a step toward normalcy by lifting the 50% capacity limit on indoor dining, a move that s been criticized by politicians and health experts who worry a hasty return to business as usual could lead to another surge in cases.
