Sage Crawford, 33, was fatally shot by a Nevada County sheriff s deputy during a confrontation last week in Alta Sierra. A vigil was held Wednesday in Crawford’s honor.
“She was a mother. She was a daughter. She was a sister.”
And whatever transpired between Sage Crawford and law enforcement, she “did not deserve to be gunned down in front of her children,” said family spokeswoman Leia Schenk.
Schenk spoke to a crowd of about 50 gathered Wednesday afternoon at the site of Crawford’s fatal shooting in Alta Sierra, during a vigil organized to honor her memory.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Both far-right and far-left demonstrators are expected to descend on Sacramento this week in connection with the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, experts predict.
It’s unclear exactly what groups may participate, but those who study hate and extremism believe conservative groups and individuals and supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump are expected to protest the false claims of voter fraud and a stolen 2020 election.
Some of the nation’s top leaders are calling the law enforcement response at Wednesday’s Pro-Trump riot at the U.S. Capitol a clear failure to carry out equal justice.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) Trump supporters rallied at the state capitol in Sacramento on Wednesday. The rally included several fringe groups the Proud Boys, the 3-Percenters, and some self-described militias.
About 1,000 Trump supporters started the rally at the state capital by listening to the president s speech. While criticizing democrats, President Trump said, They ve used the pandemic as a way of defrauding the people in a proper election.
Manuel, a Trump supporter at Wednesday s rally, told ABC7 News, We know our votes were stolen even here in California.
He and many others support the president effort to fight the election results, despite the president s clear loss. They don t believe tensions will ease after President-elect Joe Biden s inauguration.
