Local Conservative MPs are expressing their opposition to the Liberal government’s 2021 federal budget, unveiled April 19.
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Lianne Rood and Sarnia-Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu both registered their disapproval of the document, saying the high levels of debt projected will have profoundly negative consequences for future generations.

“This is the first budget presented since I was elected in 2019, and the Liberal government’s first more than two years. I was not impressed,” Rood said in a statement. “The $101.4 billion in commitments made today by the new Minister of Finance will leave Canada with unsustainable massive levels of debt and an uncertain economic future amid a health and financial crisis.
