Mornings with the Maestro available online
LIMA The Lima Symphony Orchestra has released a new episode of “Mornings with the Maestro.” The episode is available on the Lima Symphony Orchestra’s YouTube page.
These programs are intended to introduce young audiences to the basic elements of music in fun and engaging ways.
Mornings with the Maestro Episode 2 asks the questions: what is a conductor? What does a conductor do? What kind of tools do conductors use to do their job? What is a baton? How do conductors direct music by using just their bodies? What is a score? What does a score look like?
Lima amphitheater expected to be ready by November

LIMA The Greater Lima Region Amphitheater and Park is on track to start and finish construction by the end of 2021, according to the Lima Rotary Club.
“The architectural and engineering plans are being completed now and should be finished by the end of February,” Amphitheater Committee Co-Chair Tracie Sanchez said in a press release. “We plan to go out to bid to select our contractor as soon as the architectural drawings are complete. We are very excited to announce that construction should begin this spring or summer.”

REGION There are a few events to choose from this weekend:
• An event to honor Martin Luther King Jr. will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at the former Whittier School site, 400 block of Holmes Avenue, Lima. This year would have been the 39th annual banquet, and the event will center instead on a march, according to 6th Ward Councilman Derry Glenn. The event begins at 1 p.m. with an awards presentation and will be followed by a march from the Whittier School location to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Center Park.
