Inexcusable atrocity

Anyone listening to the April 20 SLO County Board of Supervisors meeting would have heard the members state their intention to ask Public Health Director Dr. Penny Borenstein about the use of vaccine passports in our county during the May 4 meeting. And during the May 4 meeting, Borenstein was indeed asked about vaccine passports under the COVID-19 update agenda item. On May 4, well over a hundred pre-recorded public comments voiced concern over vaccine passports. In the midst of playing the comments on the agenda item No. 16, the COVID-19 update, the board interrupted the play of messages in order to move to suspend the right of the remaining messages to be heard. Supervisors Dawn Ortiz-Legg, Bruce Gibson, and John Peschong voted not to hear the remaining messages in order to save time.

Emergency responders, elected officials react to shooting death of officer SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Law enforcement agencies, emergency responders and elected officials across the state are voicing their support for the San Luis Obispo Police Department following the shooting death of one of its officers. The officer was killed and another was injured Monday evening after a shooting at an apartment in San Luis Obispo. The officers were serving a search warrant when they were fired on by a man believed to be Edward Zamora Giron. Girdon was found dead following the incident. The San Luis Obispo Police Department hosted a press conference Tuesday to shed more light on the shooting. The department identified Detective Luca Benedetti as the officer killed Monday. Another detective, Steve Orozco was treated and released at the hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.

In the midst of playing the comments on the agenda item #16, the COVID Update, the board interrupted the play of messages in order to move to suspend the right of the remaining messages to be heard. Supervisors Dawn Ortiz-Legg, Bruce Gibson, and John Peschong voted not to hear the remaining messages in order to “save time.”
