One of Britain’s most prolific paedophiles would never have been caught if Facebook’s proposed end-to-end encryption settings had been in place at the time, the head of the National Crime Agency (NCA) has warned.
David Wilson, 36, a roofer from King s Lynn, Norfolk, was jailed for 25 years on Wednesday after he admitted 96 online child sex abuse offences against 52 victims.
He was caught when the social media giant handed over crucial evidence about his online activities to investigators from the NCA.

These include digital and data professionals working for supermarket chain Asda. Daniel Owens, online grocery development manager at Asda Stores, was awarded an MBE for “services to retail customers during the Covid-19 Response”, as was Connor Wilkinson, head of e-commerce data at Asda.
