Ahana, a San Mateo, Calif.-based open data lake analytics company, raised $20m in Series A funding. The round, which brought total funds raised to $24.8m, was led by Third Point Ventures with participation from existing investors GV (formerly Google Ventures), Leslie Ventures, and Lux Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Robert Schwartz, Managing Partner, Third Point Ventures will join Ahana’s Board of Directors. The company intends to use the funds to further accelerate engineering and contributions to the open source community, as well as to expand its go-to-market teams. Led by Steven Mih, Cofounder and CEO, Ahana offers a managed service for Presto on AWS to simplify open data lake analytics.
