Stewart was a key figure in the development of the Manawatū agency, who took the reins from the original chief executive Will Samuel in 2017 – a year after it was first formed in the amalgamation of Destination Manawatū and Vision Manawatū. Reflecting on the past four years, Stewart said it was an extremely rewarding leadership role despite the challenges of the organisation’s wide remit – ranging from marketing and tourism promotion to industry training, business support and advocacy.

TALLAHASSEE â With lawmakers taking widely different stances on what would be best for consumers, the Florida Senate on Wednesday passed a major property-insurance bill that targets roof-damage claims and litigation against insurance companies.
Supporters of the bill (SB 76) said lawmakers need to approve it to curb soaring insurance rates for homeowners. They said private insurers are grappling with large financial losses that have led to rate increases and customers shifting to the state-backed Citizens Property Insurance Corp. for coverage.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. â State lawmakers are bolstering their efforts to create a database to track rape kits in Florida.
State Rep. Emily Slosberg, DâBoca Raton, and Senator Linda Stewart, DâOrlando, held news conference in Tallahassee to discuss HB 673/SB 1002, also known as Gail s Law.
HB 673 passed a House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday with bipartisan support. The measure now heads to the House floor for a vote.
If passed, the legislation would require the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to create and maintain a statewide system for tracking sexual assault evidence kits from the point of collection through the criminal justice process.
