“We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways, it feels like a fairy tale,” co-showrunner and director Jim Mickle said in a statement. “Sweet Tooth is a new kind of dystopian story. It’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity.”
A new floral business, Bel Fiori Mercato, has sprouted in Marysville.
The business held a soft opening at 1703 Gratiot Blvd. Thursday and offers plants, bouquets, bunches and more, said owner Gina Nowicki, who lives in Marysville.
“If you’re going to work with something, it might as well be something pretty,” she said.
Bel Fiori Mercato is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. It offers deliveries, permanent and fresh flowers, and services special events like weddings and funerals.
Nowicki is still working on getting signage and filling the shop space, with hopes to put in a flower bar so people can make their own bouquets as well as buy premade ones. She plans to host a grand opening for the business sometime around Mother’s Day.

TCDT volunteer Andy Macleod sets out to deliver Burns suppers.
A Burns supper served up by local volunteers went down a treat with around 70 residents living in the Thurso and Castletown communities.
Dished out on Tuesday this week, it is just one of the many things volunteers with the Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) have been busy organising during the latest Covid-19 restrictions. The Burns supper went really well, said development manager Joan Lawrie. There were lots of happy people. We delivered about 70 Burns suppers, including Castletown where we work in partnership with Christine Stone.

Christmas Day was made special for many Caithness residents with nearly 100 meals delivered to those living on the west side of the county.
Not daunted by the fact that the usual community festive dinner could not go ahead, Thurso Community Development Trust (TCDT) remained committed to providing three-course meals to people who were isolated or would otherwise have struggled to provide for themselves.
