(Peter Byrne/PA) Ministers have recommend an NHS staff pay rise of half what was budgeted for, according to the organisation representing NHS trusts in England. NHS Providers is challenging the Government over its defence of the recommendation for health workers to receive a one per cent increase, which Labour says is a “real-terms cut” to wages. The organisation said detailed work had been conducted by the NHS on a long-term plan in which it claimed the Government assumed an NHS pay rise in 2021/22 of 2.1 per cent, not one per cent. However, the Education Secretary said the recommended one per cent pay rise for NHS staff marks “a period of restraint” as the Government turns to cutbacks to claw back pandemic spending.
MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) The Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health is launching an effort to eliminate childhood poverty to improve children’s well-being.
Director Linda Hall announced the effort Tuesday, with the title of “Supporting Child Well-being through Eliminating Childhood Poverty,” which details what communities, schools, parents and policymakers can do to help the effort succeed.
Hall said the initiative, based on the conclusion that “growing up in poverty is detrimental to a child’s overall well-being, affecting virtually every area of their life,” includes a new fact sheet on the issue, with some of the points including:
• Stopping the cycle of intergenerational poverty increases children’s opportunities to attend post-secondary programs, achieve higher incomes, live in stable housing and have better quality and length of life.

It s rather hard to get Mr Neat to go on holiday he s a homebody through and through.
However, with a two-week holiday looming I started planning a small break in the Taranaki. I talked about it a lot, every day for a number of weeks.
Then the first weekend of my holiday on Sunday night, we went into a level 2 Covid lockdown. Not only that but we found out that the positive cases had visited New Plymouth and surrounding areas.
