Calls for probe into Katie Allan s death after delays see family wait for nearly three years The mum of a Glasgow student who took her own life in prison has slammed the lack of an official investigation. Nearly three years after Katie Allan died at Polmont Young Offenders in 2018, a Fatal Accident Inquiry has still not been held. Solicitor to the family, Aamer Anwar has now written to the Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf, the Sunday Mail reports. Katie Allan suffered from depression and it is believed she was enduring bullying in the cell. She died at the age of 21 in June 2018, while serving a 16-month sentence for a drink-driving offence that led to a 15-year-old boy being knocked unconscious on Eastwoodmains Road in Giffnock.

The outlook for the re-nomination and re-election of President Abraham Lincoln does not appear promising.
The nearly three-year-old Civil War continues to rage and many Northerners shake their heads in disbelief as their sons continue to die by the thousands each month on Southern battlefields. They doubt Republican Lincoln’s ability to bring hostilities to a peaceful close.
Most leaders in the Republican Party now say that the party is not strong enough alone to re-nominate Lincoln so they form a Union Party with Republicans and War Democrats who support the president and his war policies. The party will have its presidential convention in June in Baltimore.
