Members of the Leduc Old Blades Hockey League made a large donation to the Leduc & District Food Bank over the holiday season.
The league donated just over $4,000 to the food bank as part of its annual tradition of giving back to the community.

“Typically, every Sunday night in December we have a box at the entryway to the LRC dressing rooms and we encourage teams to bring food donations. We see how much money or pounds of food we can collect,” said Jay Cole, vice president for the Leduc Old Blades.

Blackjacks Roadhouse managed to provide their annual free Christmas dinner and raise money on Dec. 25, all while changing the way dinner was delivered.
The event served over 600 people with a drive-thru dinner on Christmas Day. The restaurant has provided a free Christmas meal for over 30 years.

“It wasn’t as busy as we thought it was going to be but understandably so because it really was missing that ambience. The St. Peter’s Lutheran Church choir, and kids running around and 50 volunteers asking you, again, if you want your coffee refilled,” Blackjacks owner Clarence Shields said.
